Acknowledgement is due within seven days; feedback follows within three months.
Maltese statutory guidance requires receipt to be acknowledged within seven days and diligent follow-up to be carried out. Feedback must be provided within three months in the ordinary workflow. The three-month feedback deadline should be tracked from acknowledgement or, if no acknowledgement was sent, from the expiry of the seven-day acknowledgement period.
- Record the date and channel of receipt.
- Assign an impartial person or function.
- Track acknowledgement and feedback separately.
- Keep the reporter informed without prejudicing the investigation or third-party rights.
