Module Learning Objective

write findings and verify corrective actions

1. Regulatory Concept & Core Standards

In this video we will consolidate a skill: write findings and verify corrective actions. Use the case to test what you would do in a similar situation. We will explain the proposed response step by step so that you can understand each choice and recognise when more information would be needed. Audit compares criteria with evidence and reports findings within a defined scope. This course proposes an internal verification approach. It is not official certification or a guarantee that no wrongdoing exists. Access to reports must remain limited and justified during audit.

A useful finding connects criterion, observed condition and evidence. Explain risk or effect and distinguish non-compliance from improvement opportunities. Recommendations must address causes. Follow-up checks implementation and, where appropriate, effectiveness. Acceptance of a recommendation does not prove correction.

Apply the following rule: The Whistleblower Protection Office provides advice, receives reports and exercises protection powers. Competent bodies deal with criminal and administrative matters; a prosecutor or administrative authority grants formal protection for a qualified report under sections 3–6. Advice services, internal platforms and competent authorities are not interchangeable. Public disclosure has separate section 2 conditions.

2. Practical Implementation & Procedure

Validate facts with departments while preserving independent findings. Record reasoned disagreements. Assign priorities and owners. Define closure evidence and confirmation tests. Prepare recipient-appropriate reports and protect case details. Reassess measures that fail to address the cause before closing them. Before moving on, turn this procedure into a sequence you could explain to a colleague. Identify the first check, the action that depends on its outcome and the record that allows the decision to be reconstructed. Follow the sequence on screen and identify the point where an error would change the result.

3. Case Study & Compliance Action

The channel lacks cover for its handler. The proposed action is a reminder. Audit explains that this does not ensure continuity during absence. The entity appoints and prepares a substitute, grants access and performs a documented test. Now read the case carefully. Separate established facts from information you would still need to confirm. Do not add motives or events that have not been described. This distinction matters when choosing a response proportionate to the information available.

The exercise is as follows: What provides stronger evidence for closing this action? Choose an answer and write one sentence explaining it. During the pause, compare your choice with the criteria we have just considered. Also think about the material you would retain to explain the decision later.

Appointment and preparation of the substitute, appropriate access configuration and a successful continuity test. A reminder or promise does not show that the cause was resolved.

One mistake to avoid is: accepting actions that address symptoms but leave the cause unresolved.

Now apply the national rule to a second decision. An advice webpage is listed as the only recipient of all reports. What is missing?

A competence check. The Whistleblower Protection Office, prosecutor and relevant administrative authority have different roles. Use the current designated route and distinguish reporting, protection applications and advice. Public disclosure requires a separate assessment of statutory conditions.

National Legal Framework: Zákon č. 54/2019 Z. z., transposing Directive (EU) 2019/1937 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of persons who report breaches of Union law.
